
OSU's Harrison Wins Two Events at Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. – Senior Sammy Harrison won the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events to highlight five wins by the Oregon State swimming team at Washington State on Friday night at Gibb Pool.
After Oregon State opened Friday night's meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (Amani Amr, Czsarina Isleta, Andrea Young, Claire McLaggan – 1:47.14), Harrison clocked a time of 10:13.14 to give the Beavers a victory in the first individual event of the night.
10 events later, Harrison re-entered the pool for the 500-yard freestyle and seized her second win of the night with a time of 5:01.16.
Oregon State's other two individual wins on Friday came in events exhibitioned by the Cougars. Constance Toulemonde recorded a first-place finish with the third-fastest time in the 100-yard butterfly (58.17), while Young registered a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM with the third-fastest time in the event (2:11.17).
Oregon State also posted a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, an event also exhibitioned by the Cougars, with the second-fastest time in the event (3:36.54). The foursome swimming the event for the Beavers was Toulemonde, Anni Hecker, Young and Harrison.
Despite the wins for Oregon State on Friday night, the Beavers fell at Washington State by a score of 154-100.
Oregon State also received a solid performance from Amr in the 100-yard backstroke, as she clocked a time of 57.47 to place third. Corrine Shigeta followed with a third-place finish in the next event, touching the wall in 1:06.18 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Shigeta also posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.55).
Rounding out the Beavers' top performers on Friday was Jesikah Cavanaugh, who contributed for OSU in the 200-yard butterfly with a third-place finish and a time of 2:11.60.
Following tonight's action, the Oregon State swimming team is set to return to the pool for a dual meet against the Idaho Vandals on Saturday at 11 a.m. PT. The meet is set to be held at the UI Swim Center in Moscow, Idaho.
