October 06, 2016 | Women's Swimming
CORVALLIS, Ore. — After starting its season with a road contest last weekend, the Oregon State swimming team will return to Corvallis and welcome California for its home opener on Friday at the Osborn Aquatic Center starting at 5 p.m.
Â
Oregon State will look to rebound after last week's tri-meet losses to BYU and Utah. Felicia Anderson looks to continue her early success after recording her first win of her collegiate career last weekend. The freshman paced all swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke and also finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke.
Â
The California swimming team will also begin its season this Friday after competing in the 'Cal Poly Queen of the Pool' event last Friday. Kathleen Baker captured the Queen of the Pool title for Cal after recording the lowest times in the unique competition.
Â
The last time the Beavs and the Golden Bears met was on October, 23 2014, in Berkeley California. California edged Oregon State, 156-97 in the meet. Sophie MacEwan finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 24.62, while Andrea Young followed. Czsarina Isleta also picked up points for OSU in the 200-yard breaststroke with a second place finish and a time of 2:22.88. Andrea Young finished second in both the 100-yard butterfly and the 400-yard IM.
Â
Following the meet on Friday, the Beavers will stay in Corvallis and play host to Stanford on Friday, Oct. 14, starting at 2 p.m., at the Osborn Aquatic Center.
