
Beavers Set Three-Round School Record

PEORIZ, Ariz. – The Oregon State women's golf team crushed the three-round school record it set earlier this season at the Westbrook Spring Invitational on Monday.
The Beavers shot a 4-over 285-298-285--868 at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club to finish the two-day, 54-hole tournament in seventh place.
The previous record was a 9-over 294-290-289--873 at the Rose City Collegiate this past September. Oregon State has recorded its six best three-round scores in program history since the fall of 2014, with three of those coming at the Westbrook Spring Invitational.

Oregon State fired a 3-under 285 in the first and third rounds to post the second-lowest single-round score in school history. The Beavers set the school mark with a 5-under 283 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational two years ago.

Individually, senior Chelsea Saelee led the Beavers with a tie for 14th place after carding a 1-under 70-75-70--215. The pair of 2-under 70's equaled her career-best score and helped her become the ninth Oregon State golfer to finish a three-round tournament in red figures.

Senior Ashlee Pickerell was solid throughout the spring first tournament, finishing in a tie for 23rd place with a 1-over 71-74-72--217.
“I'm really proud of the leadership by Ashlee and Chelsea and the way they carried themselves all week,” Oregon State assistant coach Dawn Shockley said. “It's great momentum for the rest of the spring.”
Sophomore Haley Nist and freshman Olivia Benzin each finished in a tie for 37th place with a 4-over 220, as Nist went 72-74-74 and Benzin posted scores of 72-76-72.
Sophomore Hannah Swanson posted her best score in the final round to help the team and finish in a tie for 70th place with a 10-over 80-75-71--226.
Oregon won the 15-team field with a 10-under 854, and Emma Henrikson of San Diego State and Brooke Ferrell of Wisconsin shared medalist honors with a 5-under 211.
The Beavers have two weeks off before returning to action on Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8 at the Bay Area Intercollegiate in Fairfax, Calif.
