Saelee, Nist Lead Beavers On Day One At Pac-12's
April 18, 2016 | Women's Golf
PLEASANTON, Calif. – Chelsea Saelee shot a 1-under 71 and Haley Nist carded an even-par 72 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the opening round of the Pac-12 Championship on Monday.
Saelee, a senior from Seattle, Wash., had five birdies and four bogeys at the par-72, 6,458-yard Ruby Hill Golf Club to put her in a tie for 16th place. This is the fourth Pac-12 Championship she's competed at, and the 1-under 71 is her best score at the conference tournament, bettering the even-par 71 she shot last year in Boulder, Colo.
Nist, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho, was 3 over through four holes, but finished with birdies on four of her last six holes to post an even-par 72 for a tie for 22nd place. This is the first time she's competed at the Pac-12 Championship.
As a team, the Beavers are in 10th place, and ahead of No. 15 California, after shooting a 4-over 292. No. 2 USC holds the clubhouse lead with a 10-under 278, while No. 4 UCLA is second with a 6-under 282 and No. 10 Arizona State sits in third with a 3-under 285.
Eight of the 11 teams in the field are in the top 20 in golfstat.com's latest rankings.

Senior Ashlee Pickerell was fourth for Oregon State with a 4-over 76 to make up the Beavers' first-round scoring.
