Oregon State travels to Utah for last competition before the Pac-12 Championships
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Beavers are back on the road this week as they head to Utah for their final dual meet of the 2018-19 season.
The Utes are coming off of a pair of dual meet wins in late January over the College of Idaho and Brigham Young University.
Oregon State split a pair of home meets last weekend taking a win over the University of Idaho and dropping a close meet with Washington State.
"We've been able to talk about what we learned during the two meets last weekend and come up with a plan for how we're going to compete this week in Utah," Beaver head coach Jennifer Buffin said. "We want to show up this week with the same energy we're going to have at Pac-12's and use this meet as a final preparation for Pac-12's.
The meet puts the Beavers back on the road, something they've been getting used to over the past couple of months with road trips to San Diego and Los Angeles in late December and January.
"This isn't going to be an easy competition," Buffin said. "Traveling and getting up to compete is always a difficult task, but we still have to swim fast and compete. This weekend lets us prepare under another new set of circumstances traveling into the cold climate in Utah and still being able to perform at a high level."
After the trip to Utah the Beavers will have three weeks to prepare for the end of season Pac-12 Championships; the end goal that Buffin and the team have been targeting all season long. Buffin wants to use the meet in Utah as a launching board to get the Beavers ready for the four day competition in Washington.
"Everyone's excited," Buffin said. "We want to channel this 'nearing the end of the season' energy into this meet and competing in every race so that we know we are as prepared as possible heading into Pac-12's."
The meet is set for 11 A.M. on Saturday February 9th at the Ute Natatorium in Salt Lake City, Utah.
