Carson Barry Finishes In Top 10 To Lead Men’s Golf At Cal Poly Invite

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. – Carson Barry posted a 3-under 213 over 54 holes at the Cal Poly Invitational, tying for ninth to finish with his 10th career top-10 finish and lead the Oregon State men's golf team at The Preserve Golf Club.
The Beavers, as a team, finished tied for ninth at the par-72, 7,138-yard course. OSU tied with San Francisco and Long Beach State at 9-over 873 and was just three shots behind No. 8 USC.
The top-10 finish is the second of the season for Barry, who had earlier placed seventh at the Husky Invitational. He shot a 1-under 71 in round one, and a 6-under 66 in round two Monday for his sixth and seventh sub-par rounds this year. He ended his trip with a 4-over 76.
Jackson Lake shot up to a tie for 32nd with a 1-over 73 in the final 18 Tuesday. He posted a 1-under 71 – his third sub-par round of the season – over the final 18 on Monday. He ended the Cal Poly Invite with a 3-over 219.
Mateo Fuenmayor was 7-over on Tuesday, following a 3-under 69 in the second round on Monday. He ended the tournament tied for 43rd with a 5-over 221. With the second round effort, he ends fall's action with three sub-par rounds.
Rylan Johnson finished in 49th with a 7-over 223 after posting a 3-over 75 in the third and final round. The freshman opened the invite with a 72 Monday, tying for his second-best round of the fall.
Collin Hodgkinson also opened the trip at par on Monday, and finished tied for 61st overall at 11-over 227. He ended the trip with a 7-over 79.
As a team, the Beavers finished with 57 birdies, good for a tie for third in the 13-team event. Barry led OSU individually with 14, followed by Lake (12), Fuenmayor (12), Johnson (11) and Hodgkinson (8).
