
Beavers Dominate Central Michigan

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The 25th-ranked Oregon State wrestling team closed its time at the National Duals with a resounding win over Central Michigan in New Orleans. Eight of the 10 matches went in the Beavers' favor and included four wins via fall.
Brandon Kaylor, ranked 10th at 125, set the tone for the day with a 14-2 win by fall to grab a lead OSU would not relinquish at 6-0. In the 133-lb. bout, Jason Shaner rode strong second and third periods to clinch the 8-3 decision to bump the lead to 9-0. Cleveland Belton needed just 41 seconds of the clock to pin his opposition in the 141-lb. matchup. Riley Gurr, at 149, took a 9-4 decision to keep the momentum up for the Beavers.
A Mateo Olmos win by decision at 174 was sandwiched between wins via fall by Matthew Olguin (165) and Trey Munoz (184) to clinch the win for Oregon State. Tanner Harvey notched the final points of the tournament with a quick win via fall in the 197-lb. bout.
Munoz finished the two-day invitational with three wins.
The win wrapped up the 2022 calendar year for the Beavers. Oregon State will welcome Oklahoma State to Gill Coliseum on January 8th, with the first match set for noon.
