OSU Men’s Golf Places Fifth In Seattle After Strong Second Round

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Oregon State men's golf team shot a 3-under as a team in the second round of the Redhawk Invitational Monday, propelling the Beavers to a fifth-place finish after 36 holes in the first day of the event.
The Beavers improved by 15 strokes in the round after shooting a 12-over in the first round at the par-71, 6,989-yard Chambers Bay Golf Course. All five of OSU's competitors improved their scores over the last 18.
Notably, Nolan Thoroughgood and Jackson Lake each shot at par over the first 36 holes to lead the team individually. Both were in lockstep over the first full day, shooting a 1-under 70 in the second round after posting 1-over 72 scores in the first round. Both also finished with four birdies.
The duo is tied for ninth entering the final 18 holes.
Carson Barry is close behind after shooting a 2-under 69 in the second round. Like Thorughgood and Lake, he tallied four birdies on the day. Barry is tied for 12th.
Rylan Johnson came back from a 7-over 78 in the first round to post a 2-over 73 in round two. He's 9-over after two round and stands in a tie for 62nd.
Mateo Fuenmayor rounded out the Oregon State contingent, finishing at a 10-over 152 on the day. He posted a 1-over 72 in the second round after opening with a 9-over 80 in the first 18. He is tied for 70th.
