Beavers Drop Matchup With Utes

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Utah 74-47 Thursday evening in Salt Lake City.
Dexter Akanno led the Beavers with 12 points and three steals. Jordan Pope had seven points to go with three rebounds and three assists. Tyler Bilodeau and Justin Rochelin ended the evening with six points apiece.
Michael Rataj led the Beavers with five rebounds. Rataj and KC Ibekwe came up with two blocks apiece.
Oregon State got 32 of its points off the bench.
The teams went back-and-forth early on, as neither side claimed a lead greater than four in the opening eight minutes of the contest. Oregon State used a 7-0 run to take a 19-15 lead at the mid-way point of the first half, but Utah responded with 18 unanswered points before Akanno hit a triple to send the Beavers to the break trailing 33-22.
The Utes extended the lead to 30 in the second half, on their way to the 27-point win.
The Beavers will head across the Rockies on Saturday to take on Colorado.
