Oregon State Places Third at Pac-12 Championships
May 19, 2024 | Men's Rowing
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Oregon State picked up third place results in the 3V8 and Varsity 4 to secure third place in the team race at the Pac-12 Championships.
The deciding race was the V4, where OSU raced across the line about three to four seats in front of Stanford. The Beavers finished two seconds ahead of the Card.
"This is the highest level of competition. The final year of the Pac-12 Championships was memorable. The headwind did not help us but the guys held their own. We did finish 3rd place as a team which is great. The guys in the 3V and the 4+ earned their medals and should be proud of the work that it took to get there," head coach Gabe Winkler said.
OSU finished fourth in both the 2V8 and Varsity 8 races, dropping to eventual champion Washington as well as top-5 foe Cal. The Beavs placed 14 seconds out of third in the 2V8 and 13 seconds behind in the Varsity 8 race.
Up next, the Beavs await their fate for the IRA National Championships. The race is May 31-June 2 on Mercer Lake in Princeton, NJ.
