Beavers Fall to Bearkats

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Sam Houston 85-75 Wednesday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Josiah Lake II led the Beavers with 19 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the floor, and recorded four rebounds and four assists. Keziah Ekissi had 13 off the bench, going 4-for-8 from the floor.
Dez White finished in double-figures with 11 points. Isaiah Sy and Noah Amenhauser tallied nine points apiece.
Oregon State played its second-straight game without the presence of Johan Munch, who missed the contest due to illness.
As a team, OSU shot 44.1 percent from the floor.
Kashie Natt led Sam Houston with 19 points. Po'Boigh King had 18.
The Beavers scored the first bucket of the game on an Amenhauser dunk, but the Bearkats responded with eight unanswered points to take an early lead. Ekissi leveled the score at 14 with a 3-pointer with just over 13 minutes left in the first half. Another 8-0 Sam Houston run put OSU behind 22-14 mid-way through the opening frame.
Oregon State exploded for a. 9-0 run to get back within two with just under three minutes left before the intermission. The Beavers trailed 46-37 at half.
Sam Houston extended the lead to 17 in the opening phases of the second half, but a 7-0 Oregon State run got the home team back within single-digits. The Beavers got within seven, but would not draw any closer, as the Bearkats claimed the win by 10.
The Beavers will hit the road Sunday for a matchup with former conference foe Arizona State.
