Beavers Take Third in Hawai’i

LAHAINA, Hawai'i – Three Beavers finished in the top-15 as the Oregon State women's golf team placed third at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawai'i.
The Beavers finished the tournament with a team score of 7-under 857 (283-284-290) after shooting 2-over in the event's final round. OSU finished 12 strokes behind tournament champion Washington.
Kyra Ly fired a 2-under 70 on Wednesday on her way to finishing tied for third. The junior recorded three birdies on the front-nine to give her a total of 15 over the course of the tournament. Her overall score of 7-under 209 (71-68-70) matched her best score of the season. Ly has now finished even-par or better in eight of her last nine rounds spanning three different events.
Raya Nakao joined Ly in finishing Wednesday's round in red numbers, shooting a 2-under 70. She placed sixth in the event with a three-round score of 4-under 212 (70-72-70), and recorded 11 birdies over during the three-day tournament.
Madde Sund tied for 13th with a tournament score of 2-under 214 (68-72-74). The senior had three birdies on the front-nine to head to the turn at 3-under, but was unable to stay below par on the day, finishing the round at 2-over 74. Sund has now placed in the top-15 in four-straight events.
Clara Alevag rounded out her week with a 4-over 76. She recorded back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17 one her way to a 56th-place finish at 8-over 224 (74-74-76).
Rebecca Kim shot 7-over 79 in the final round to end the tournament in 61st with a scored of 9-over 225 (74-72-79).
Sacramento State finished second at 7-under, while Denver and BYU rounded out the top-five at 2-under and even-par, respectively.
The Beavers will next compete at the Silverado Showdown, scheduled for Monday, April 7 through Wednesday, April 9, in Napa, Calif.
