Esler's School Record Highlights Oregon Open
EUGENE, Ore. – Isabelle Esler headlined a strong Friday for Oregon State Track and Field at the Oregon Open, resetting the school record in the javelin and leading a trio of Beavs in the top five.
The junior launched a personal-best 53.35m/175-0 to break her own school record and win the event by over four meters. Sara Sanders placed third with a throw of 49.07m/161-0, improving her mark to move up to sixth in the OSU record books. Maryann Ackerman placed fifth with a throw of 47.69m/156-5.
In the pole vault, Mia Fowler cleared 3.88m/12-8.75 to place seventh and move into fourth all-time at Oregon State. Grace Proudfoot added another field event win, clearing 1.70m/5-7 to take first in the high jump.
The distance group also turned in a flurry of personal bests in the 1,500 meters, led by Sydney Partyka's 4:26.33 and Delaney Griffin's 4:27.57. Eight Beavs recorded personal bests in the event, including Eliza Eckman (4:38.07) and Payton Smith (4:41.46), showcasing Oregon State's strength across its middle-distance lineup.
On the track, Ruby Lorenz clocked a personal-best 59.40 in the 400 meters to place second, while Ava McKee ran a season-best 2:16.81 in the 800. Jada Hurley posted 24.62 and Riley Patera finished in 24.92 in the 200 meters, with Patera setting a new PB in the process.
Freshman Katie Gelston also returned to the discus ring with another solid performance, placing third with a 49.30m/161-9 toss.
The Beavs return at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday for the Oregon Team Meet.

The Beavs walked away from the John Kight Twilight Invitational with four first-place finishes, highlighted by a pair of Beavs claiming first place in the same event.
Mia Fowler and Maddie Julher tied for first place in pole vault, winning with a height of 3.60m/11-9.75. Carley Strand finished fifth with a height of 3.15m/10-4.
In the high jump, Dede Norman came out on top with a mark of 1.75m/5-8.75, with Grace Proudfoot right behind her at second place at 1.65m/5-5.
Riley Patera won the 400 meters with a personal best of 56.93 which earned her the #10 spot in OSU's all-time list. Later in the day, she took third in the 200 meters with another personal best, running 25.11
In the 1,500 meters, Eliza Eckman led the Beavs with a seventh-place finish, earning a new personal best of 4:39.47. Ava McKee finished second in the 800 meters in 2:16.49 and Ruby Lorenz clocked 2:19.91 for ninth
