Rowing Readies for Road Regatta
April 23, 2025 | Men's Rowing
SPOKANE, Wash. – Oregon State men's rowing will continue its spring season on Saturday, competing against Gonzaga, UC San Diego and Santa Clara in a regatta hosted by the Zags.
The Beavs were last in action on April 12, competing head-to-head against then-ranked No. 2 Washington at Vancouver Lake.
During that regatta, 16 different boats competed across just two races, competing eight across in a unique setting that Head Coach Gabe Winkler described as something the team may try to do at future events.
OSU's 1V8+, who finished the course in 5:55.01, posted the Beavs' fastest time of the day to finish in fourth place out of eight total boats; the second, third, and fourth eight all finished in fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
The second flight, the varsity four race, was close, with the gap between first and third place sitting at approximately three seconds. Coxed by Tamsyn Adams, the Beaver varsity four placed third at 6:34.07, while the Huskies' first and second four used times of 6:30.97 and 6:32.74 to take the top two spots.
In the updated IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll, released Wednesday morning, the Beaver varsity eight came in at No. 21 for the second-consecutive week, sitting ahead of St. Joseph's and behind the US Naval Academy.
Oregon State men's rowing is back in action next weekend, heading to Philadelphia, Pa., to compete against Penn, Cornell and Holy Cross in the final regular season regatta; the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship is scheduled for May 17-18 in Rancho Cordova, Calif.
