Mitch Canham Named ABCA West Region Coach Of The Year
June 24, 2025 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Mitch Canham has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) West Region Coach of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday.
Canham, in his sixth year as the Pat Casey Head Baseball Coach at Oregon State, guided the Beavers to their eighth Men's College World Series in 2025. Oregon State finished with a 48-16-1 record, marking his third season with at least 40 wins since taking over the program prior to the 2020 season.
The 2025 Beavers advanced to their eighth consecutive NCAA postseason appearance – the longest stretch in program history – and advanced to their 10th Super Regional, and the eighth time hosting. The Beavers went 5-2 in elimination games this past postseason, including a 4-0 mark after losing to Saint Mary's in the first game of the Corvallis Regional.
The Beavers proceeded to out-score their opponents, 50-6, over those four elimination games.
Canham, a 2006 and 2007 national champion as a player with the Beavers, is 224-103-1 (.684) since coming back to Corvallis. The 48 wins in 2025 tie a single-season high since his return, matching the 2022 club.
Canham is the first Beaver head coach to be recognized since Pat Casey in 2018 when he was also named the National Coach of the Year after leading Oregon State to a national title.
