Kellan Oakes Taken In Ninth Round Of MLB Draft By Houston

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State right-handed pitcher Kellan Oakes has been selected in the ninth round, 276th overall by the Houston Astros in the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.
Oakes, from Canby, Ore., has pitched in 38 games over two seasons for the Beavers, making four starts. He is 8-2 with a 3.97 earned run average in those appearances, striking out 64 in 59 innings.
Oakes went 5-1 with a 3.68 ERA last season, holding opponents to a .232 batting average. He struck out 47 in 36 2/3 innings.
He is the 10th Beaver selected by Houston all-time, and the first since Jacob Melton in 2022.
