Three Beavers Named To Comeback Player Of The Year Watch List
August 19, 2025 | Football
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State's Dylan Black, Kobe Singleton and Noble Thomas Jr. were named to the Comeback Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, as announced by the College Sports Communicators, Associated Press and Fiesta Sports Foundation.
Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors, and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
Black, a redshirt senior long snapper from Reno, Nev., has played in 46 games at Oregon State but missed the 2024 season while battling cancer. Last October 17 he rang the bell after learning he was cancer free. Black was a semifinalist for the Witten Man of the Year Award in 2024.
Singleton, a redshirt senior defensive back from Tallahassee, Fla., played in four games last season while dealing with an injury. He transferred to Oregon State prior to the 2024 season from Dayton University where he played in 27 games over two seasons and was a First Team All-Conference selection.
Thomas Jr., a redshirt junior defensive back from Orange, Fla., was only able to play in the season opener against Idaho State last season. He appeared in six games as a redshirt freshman in 2023 and totaled 19 tackles with one quarterback hurry and three pass breakups.
