Raya Nakao Posts Another Top 10 Finish To Lead Beavers

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Raya Nakao finished in a tie for fourth place to lead the Oregon State women's golf team at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Sunday.

Nakao fired a 5-under 70-72-69—211 to record her second Top 10 finish in as many tournaments this fall and increase her career total to 15. She passed Ellie Slama (2018-22) for the second most in program history and trails only Kathleen Takaishi (1995-99), who holds the Oregon State record with 16 finishes in the Top 10.

A senior from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, Nakao has carded four sub-par scores in six rounds this fall and now has 40 career scores in red figures.

The Beavers concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament in a tie for 12th place with a 30-over 299-301-294—894 at the par-72, 6,620-yard University of Denver Golf Club.

Sophomore Kate Nakaoka was steady throughout the three rounds, finishing in a tie for 15th place with an even-par 72-73-71—216. She had a team-best 13 birdies in the tournament, tied for the third most in the 85-player field.

A native of Mililani, Hawai'i, Nakaoka opened the 2026-27 season with a 10th-place finish at the Leadership and Golf Invitational.

Rebecca Kim (80-77-80) and Kelly Hope (82-81-74) both finished in a tie for 82nd place with a 21-over 237, and Clara Alevag concluded the event with a 24-over 77-79-84 to finish in 84th place.

True freshman Kate Ly competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 51st place with a 10-over 74-78-74—226. She had five birdies in the tournament with three coming in the first round.

UNLV won the 15-team event with a 6-under 858, while Sophia Macias of Tulane, Isabel Brozena of Xavier and Logan Hale of Denver shared medalist honors with a 7-under 209.

The Beavers have two weeks before competing next at the Stanford Intercollegiate, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16 through Sunday, Oct. 18 in Stanford, Calif.
