CORVALLIS – The Oregon State women's soccer team battled San Diego State to a 2-2 draw Thursday evening at Paul Lorenz Field in Corvallis, Ore.

Grace Wetzel and Taylor Ayres both found the net in the first half, as the Beavers opened up an early advantage. The goals were the first in their Beaver career for both players.

Oregon State would ultimately lead for over 83 minutes of game time, before San Diego State scored a pair of goals within the final eight minutes to the contest to even the score.

Oregon State jumped out to an early lead, as Sophia Zboyan's ball played Wetzel into space down the right side. Wetzel converted from there, putting the Beavers in front 1-0 less than four minutes into the contest. The OSU back line performed well to maintain the advantage, as San Diego State created a handful of scoring chances in quick succession after falling behind.

The Beavers added a second in the 37^th minute, when Ayres' looping headed found its way over the keeper and into the net following a long free kick into the box from Ava Burdeyny. Oregon State headed to the intermission leading 2-0.

The Aztecs continued to attack in the second half. Reese Thurston made an incredible defensive play in the 61^st minute, heading the ball over the crossbar just before it made its way into the net.

San Diego State pulled one back in the 83^rd minute, capitalizing on a loose ball in the Beaver penalty area. The Aztecs tacked on a second to even the score in the 88^th minute, as the game ended in a tie.

Oregon State was whistled for 23 fouls in the match, compared to seven for San Diego State.

The Beavers will be back at Lorenz Field Sunday for a matchup with Texas State.
