Beavers Fall in Road Match at San Diego State
October 08, 2026 | Women's Volleyball
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oregon State volleyball fell in three sets to San Diego State on Thursday.
Â
AC Froehlich led the offense with a match-high 14 kills, adding two digs, one block and an ace and Taray Tela hit .417 on her way to six kills. Alana Marrs totaled six kills and five blocks while Beatrice Spada tied a season and career high mark with six kills in the match, hitting .364.
Â
Jackie Matias amassed 24 assists to go with six digs and a kill, and Isabel Bertelsen led the team with two service aces, also contributing six digs.
Â
The entirety of the first remained within reach for Oregon State, who rattled off multiple 3-0 runs throughout the set to keep things competitive, even bringing the score within two points late on a Bertelsen ace. SDSU, however, won it 25-21.
Â
San Diego State led for most of the second set, but the Beavers made their opponents earn it. Froehlich tallied six of her kills while the Beavers were always within an arm's reach, ultimately tying the score at 20 apiece, but the hosts ended the set on a 5-0 run to win 25-20.
Â
After the Aztecs took a 4-2 advantage, Oregon State's potent offense came alive early in set three, rattling off a 6-0 run that included three more Froehlich kills and a Cheyenne Green ace. Building upon that early momentum, the Beavers were up 12-7 after an SDSU attack error, but the Aztecs responded and leveled the match at 14 apiece before using a 6-0 run down the stretch to take control, eventually winning the match with a 25-18 victory in the third.
Â
Beaver Volleyball is on the road for its next contest, traveling to Fort Collins, Colo., to face the Colorado State Rams at 12 p.m. PT this Saturday.
