Bryce Hubbard and Jacob Galloway both tallied two hits but Oregon State was unable to hold on to a 3-1 lead in a 5-3 loss to Michigan in the season opener Friday. Hubbard singled home a run in the fifth while Galloway doubled once. Easton Talt and Jacob Krieg both drove in runs in the Beavers' half of the first. Dax Whitney started and struck out six while allowing five hits, a run and three walks in five innings.

• Oregon State leads the all-time series, 46-44, with Arizona holding a 3-0 advantage in neutral-site matchups. The last neutral-site game came at the 2023 Pac-12 Tournament in Scottsdale, a 13-12 Wildcats' win.
• Ethan Kleinschmit, Saturday's probable starter, pitched in five neutral-site games last season. Four of the five appearances came against Big Ten foes with the fifth against Coastal Carolina in Omaha.
