AJ Singer hit a grand slam and a three-run home run and finished one RBI off equaling the OSU record as he tallied eight in the Beavers' 11-5 win over San Diego on Saturday night. He hit a grand slam in the second and the Beavers eventually found themselves up 8-0 after three turns at the plate. Ethan Kleinschmit took that run support and scattered six hits and a run in five innings. He struck out nine and picked up his second win of the season. OSU took advantage of 10 walks and five hit by pitches for its eighth straight win.
Oregon State Notables
• Eric Segura, the Beavers' probable starter for the finale, equaled a career-high with eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings in his last start, versus Xavier.
• Segura has 21 strikeouts to five walks in 17 innings of work thus far.
• Oregon State's eight-game win streak is tied for the sixth-longest active streak nationally.
• AJ Singer's eight RBI Saturday were one shy of equaling Ken Bowen's program-record nine in 1985 at Chico State. The last Beaver to tally eight was Travis Bazzana in 2022 against Arizona State in a 21-0 win.
• Jack Giordano finished out Saturday's win, getting out of a bases-loaded jam to preserve the 11-5 win. He pitched and caught for the Toreros last season.
• Easton Talt equaled a career-high with four runs scored in the game two win.
• Oregon State has been hit by 21 pitches over the last seven games. Jacob Galloway has accounted for five over that stretch and has been hit eight times in the first 17 games of the season.
• Galloway did see his season-long hit streak snapped at nine games Saturday. He has reached base safely in 10 consecutive games, however.
• Oregon State has outscored its opponents, 34-13, over the first three innings this season.
• OSU was out-hit Saturday and the Beavers are 32-68-1 now under Mitch Canham when an opponent tallies more hits.
• The OSU pitching staff struck out 12 in Saturday's win and now stands at 217 over the first 17 games. Oregon State is averaging 12.7 strikeouts per nine innings.
• Opponents are now batting 30 points lower than the Beavers, .229 to OSU's .259. Opponents also have a 5.66 earned run average compared to the Beavers' 3.39.
• Oregon State is 9-1 when scoring first and 165-45 since 2020 under Canham.
