Bryce Hubbard homered, Dax Whitney struck out 11 and Adam Haight drove in two to send Oregon State to a 4-2 win over Xavier in the series opener Friday night. Hubbard hit his second home run and Haight drove in two in the Beavers' four-run second inning. Whitney, given the lead, ran with it, holding Xavier to a solo home run, two hits total, two walks and the 11 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
