Beavers Bash Past Xavier To Clinch Series

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Bryce Hubbard and Josh Proctor each homered and the Beavers took advantage of 16 walks and six hit by pitches en route to a 17-2 win over Xavier Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
The win clinched the series for the Beavers (10-4 overall) and Oregon State will go for the sweep over Xavier (5-10) on Monday.
Eric Segura was the recipient of the offensive output, going 5 2/3 innings, scattering six hits with eight strikeouts. He and the OSU staff – consisting of relievers Tanner Douglas, Zach Edwards and Calvin Gregory – combined for 15 strikeouts.
Hubbard hit his third home run of the season during the Beavers' six-run fourth inning. It was the first of two six-run frames for the Beavers, with Proctor going deep for the second time this season in the fifth. Easton Talt, who finished with two sacrifice flies, also drove in a run in the fourth, as did Paul Vazquez.
Proctor's home run highlighted OSU's output in the fifth, with Tyler Inge, who reached base six times on the day, singled in a pair in the inning. Jacob Krieg reached based safely five times, and drove in a run on his third walk of the day in the sixth.
Inge set a career-high with three hits, which included a fourth-inning triple. He later scored on Talt's second sacrifice fly of the day.
Proctor and Adam Haight both recorded two hits to help lead the Beavers, who finished with a season-high 15.
Inge, Krieg and AJ Singer all had three walks as well, while Haight and Nyan Hayes were hit by a pitch twice.
Oregon State and Xavier conclude their four-game series Monday with a 5:35 p.m. PT first pitch at Goss Stadium.
