Kyra Ly Fires 73 To Open Augusta National Women’s Amateur

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Kyra Ly fired a 1-over 73 in the first round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Wednesday.
Ly had two birdies – on the par-3 sixth and par-4 13th holes at the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club – and is tied for 40th place in a field that includes 72 of the best golfers in the world.
Ly will tee off at 8 ET (5 PT) in the second round on Thursday and be paired with Achiraya Sriwong from Thailand and Kelly Xu, a senior at Stanford University
The top 30 competitors who make the cut following the first two rounds will play the final round on Saturday at Augusta National.

The second round of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Thursday will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET). NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National on Saturday.
Additionally, Golf Channel's "Live From the Masters" will commence on Friday at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
The Augusta National Women's Amateur, which has hosted the top women amateurs in golf since 2019, is celebrating its seventh Championship in 2026. The inaugural edition was won by future major champion Jennifer Kupcho in 2019 before the 2020 Championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kajitani kickstarted a historic April in 2021, capturing the first title for Japan at Augusta National eight days prior to Hideki Matsuyama's win at the Masters Tournament.
Ly, a senior from Portland, was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) last season. She became just the second Oregon State women's golfer to earn All-America recognition, joining Kathleen Takaishi who received the honor in 1998.
Capping an outstanding junior campaign, Ly was voted the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year, was an All-WCC selection and was named the WCC Golfer of the Month in February.
