May 22, 2026 | Women's Golf
CARLSBAD, Calif. – Kyra Ly carded a 1-under 71 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the first round of the NCAA Division I National Championships on Friday.
As a team, the Beavers finished the opening round with a 12-over 300 at the par-72, 6,271-yard Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, putting them in a tie for 27th place with Wake Forest.
The NCAA National Championships include 30 teams and six individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play. The top 15 teams, along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team, then compete for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion.
The top eight teams then compete in match play with the team national championship to be decided on Wednesday, May 27.
Oregon State will be in the afternoon wave on Saturday, teeing off at 1:40 p.m., and be paired with Michigan State and Texas Tech. Live scoring is available at this link.
Ly, a senior from Portland, started on the 10th hole and birdied three of her first five holes that helped her finish the first round in red figures. The 1-under 71 is the 45th sub-par score in Ly's outstanding four-year Oregon State career.
Raya Nakao, a junior from Kaneohe, Hawai'i, also started the round on fire with three birdies in the first seven holes before finishing with a 3-over 75.
Kelly Hope, a junior from Pretoria, South Africa, had a birdie on the par-3 third hole and finished with a 4-over 76.
True freshman Kate Nakaoka, a native of Mililani, Hawai'i, shot a 6-over 78 and Rebecca Kim, a junior from South Surrey, B.C., finished with a 9-over 81.
