Freitag will join the Beavers as a junior after spending the 2025-26 season Buffalo. The guard started 22 of the 23 games he played, leading the team with 19.8 points per game. Freitag shot 41.1 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from 3-point range, and dished out 3.8 assists per contest. He scored in double-figures in 20 of his 23 games, including 10 games with 20 points or more and four contests with over 30 points. Freitag was named MAC Player of the Week twice, and earned All-Conference Honorable Mention.
"We're excited to welcome Daniel Freitag to Oregon State University," Joyner said. "Daniel is an elite scorer who can put pressure on a defense in multiple ways, and his ability to create and make plays will have an immediate impact for us. He's also a veteran player who understands what it takes to compete at a high level day in and day out. What stands out most is his intelligence and mindset—winning matters to him now more than anything. He will play the right way, compete with toughness and confidence, be a great leader in the locker room and bring an edge to our program that Beaver Nation will really appreciate."
Freitag started his collegiate career at Wisconsin, where he played in 14 games as a freshman. He was the No. 9 rated point guard in his signing class, after spending his senior year of high school at Breck High School and leading his team to a state title with a record of 31-1. Freitag spent the first three years of his high school career at Jefferson High in Bloomington, Minn. He averaged 28.8 points per game during his junior season.
