Beavers Announce Staff Additions

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team has made multiple additions of its staff, head coach Justin Joyner announced Tuesday.

The Beavers welcome to the team Director of Operations Derek Saich, Video Coordinator Ryan Noriega, Assistant Director of Operations Shawn Moore, and Graduate Assistants Jackson Wegner and Cam McCoy.

Derek Saich – Director of Operations
Saich joins the Beavers after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Idaho women's basketball program. Working under head coach Arthur Moreira, Saich helped the Vandals to the best season in program history, winning 29 games including an unprecedented 18-game winning streak. Idaho claimed the Big Sky Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships and were selected as a 13-seed in the NCAA Tournament. In his first year in Moscow, Saich helped the Vandals to an 18-13 record.

Before heading to the Palouse, Saich spent three years at San Francisco. He joined the Dons as Director of Basketball Operations in 2021-22, before being promoted to Assistant Coach for the following two seasons.

At USF, Saich aided in the development of three WCC First Team members, one Newcomer of the Year, and one WCC Second Team honoree. Ioanna Krimili, Jasmine Gayles, and Debora dos Santos were all selected to the first team at least once. In his time with the Dons, the team had back-to-back WNIT berths in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. In Saich's three seasons, USF finished third, fourth, and tied for third in the WCC.

Prior to San Francisco, Saich spent three years with Texas Southern University men's basketball program as the video coordinator from 2018-2020. His duties included helping coordinate team travel, transportation, and meals as well as finding and budgeting everything technological related within the program. His time in Houston included preparing opponent scouting reports, walk-throughs and game plans for head coach Johnny Jones and the rest of the staff.

Prior to that, Saich spent two years working with the Nevada men's basketball team which included a run to the Sweet 16 under former head coach Eric Musselman. Saich served as the video coordinator for the Wolfpack and created recruiting materials and graphics for social media, mail outs and promotions as well as creating a play database for the coaching staff that included plays and drills.

Saich's first position with a collegiate basketball program was with the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's basketball team as the Director of Academics/Video Coordinator. He monitored student-athlete academic progression and coordinated weekly meetings with each player to develop strategic plans to manage coursework. To go along with these duties, Saich also compiled all practice/game film for opponents and the coaching staff.

Graduating in 2015, Saich holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UC Santa Barbara in biophilosophy as well as a certificate in sports marketing.

Ryan Noriega – Video Coordinator
Noriega joins the Beavers from San Diego State, where he spent the last two seasons as a Graduate Assistant. In that role, he coordinated practice, game and scouting film, and helped facilitate player development through on-court workouts. He also helped schedule and organize a staff of 20 student-managers.

Overall, the Aztecs went 43-21 in Noriega's two seasons as Graduate Assistant, making the NCAA Tournament in the 2024-25 campaign.

From 2020-24, Noriega served as a student manager at San Diego State. He contributed to practice and game-day operations, and handled filming and live coding. The Aztecs made the NCAA Tournament in all four of his seasons as a student-manager, highlighted by a 32-7 2022-23 season that ended in the National Championship Game. Noriega also helped the Aztecs go 26-11 in 2023-24, making the Sweet 16.

Noriega has a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance, as well as a master's in business administration from San Diego State.

Shawn Moore – Assistant Director of Operations
Moore comes to the Beavers after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach under Danny Yoshikawa at West Valley College. During his season with the Vikings, Moore helped guide the team to a 24-7 record and a Elite Eight appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association Tournament.

Moore drew upon his playing experience to help support the student-athletes at West Valley. Working primarily with the bigs, he played an integral role in offensive and defensive skill development. Overall, Moore and the Viking staff coached five sophomore continued their career at four-year colleges after the 2025-26 campaign.

A Chico, California native, Moore played the last two seasons of his collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara, joining the Gauchos as a walk-on, before earning a scholarship his senior year. Over two seasons, he appeared in 52 games, shooting an efficient 60 percent from the floor as a senior while carving out a key role through consistent hard work, discipline, and team-first leadership.

Moore began his playing career at Butte College, where he was named Golden Valley Conference MVP and earned All-State honors after averaging 14.1 points and 8 rebounds per game. He helped lead his team to a conference championship and state playoff success.

Moore holds a bachelor's degree in art history, architecture and environment.

Jackson Wegner – Graduate Assistant
Wegner also coached at West Valley College under Coach Yoshikawa during the 2025-26 season. During his season with the Vikings, Wegner helped guide the team to a 24-7 record and a Elite Eight appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association Tournament.

Wegner played at West Valley from 2020-22. After having his freshman season canceled due to Covid-19, the Vikings had an outstanding campaign during Wegner's final season with the program. WVC went 28-4 in 2021-22, making the state championship game. The Vikings went undefeated in conference play, earning both conference and NorCal titles.

A native of Campbell, Calif., Wegner was a two-time All-League honoree at Westmont High School. He has also gained experience directing and coaching basketball camps, as well as coaching one year of AAU ball.

Wegner graduated from Oregon State University in 2025 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology.

Cameron McCoy – Graduate Assistant
McCoy comes to Oregon State after concluding his playing career last season at Langston University in Oklahoma. He appeared in 21 games as a senior, shooting a blistering 59.4 percent from the floor. His season was highlighted by an 8-for-8 shooting performance against Easter Oregon, as he scored a career-high 18 points. McCoy shot 57.1 percent in 21 games as a junior.

A Los Angeles, Calif. native, McCoy played his first two seasons at Cerritos College. He averaged 10.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in his sophomore campaign, helping the team win a SCC South Division Championship with a record of 20-10. He set a career-high with 39 points on 14-for-20 shooting against cross-town rivals Long Beach City College in 2024.
