2014 Outdoors: Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team … PR’d in every event in 2014 … Started with a 9:51.58 3,000m at the OSU Invitational on March 8, which is fifth on the school’s all-time list … Followed that up with a 4:44.15 1,500m at the Oregon Preview on March 22, a nearly two second PR … Ran the 5,000m four times, putting forth her best performance at the Stanford Invitational (April 4) when she clocked 16:50.86, the ninth-best time in Oregon State history … Made her Pac-12 Championships debut in Pullman, Wash. on May 18, finishing the 5K in 17:43.81 to place 27th. 2013 Outdoors: Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team … Opened her season at Willamette (March 2) when she PR’d in the 1,500m with a time of 4:46.02 … Ran the 3,000m once, at the Oregon Preview (March 16), finishing 10th with a time of 10:09.92 … Had a season-best time in the 5,000m at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival (March 29) when she ran 17:48.16. Season Bests: Outdoors – 1,500m – 4:46.02, Willamette Opener, Salem, Ore. (3/2/13); 3,000m – 10:09.92, Oregon Preview, Eugene, Ore. 2013: Named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team … Ran four times, posting her best finish at the Sundodger Invite (45th) and best time at the Bronco Invite (21:13.8).
2012: Did not compete during the cross country season.
2011: Competed in her first collegiate meet at the Sundodger Invitational, finishing the 6,000-meter course with a time of 22:32 to place 28th overall … Competed in the Bill Dellinger Invitational’s 5,000-meter course, finishing with a time of 18:12.97 … Had her highest finish of the season at the Mike Hodges Invitational, placing 8th with a time of 18:25 on the 5,000-meter course … Was one of three true freshmen to run in the Pac-12 Championships, finishing the 6,000-meter course with a time of 22:59.
COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE HS: Lettered four times in cross country and four times in track under coaches Lindy Lombard and Bill Anderson ... All-State Cross Country in 2008 and 2009 ... Was the Texas cross country state runner-up in 2008 … Qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals in 2008 and 2009, finishing 10th in 2008 … Holds the Colleyville Heritage High School record in the 3,200 meters and the 1,600 meters.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jeff and Maryanne Nielson … Grandfather played football at Georgetown ... Has two younger sisters, Cara and Samantha... Biggest athletic thrill was helping her high school cross country team make it out of district for the first time in school history.
