Red Rocha earned All-Pacific Coast Conference honors in 1945, '46, and '47. He also was selected a 1947 All-American after leading the team to the NCAA Tournament. At the time of his graduation, he was the program's career scoring leader with 911 points.
He played in the NBA for 10 years and won a championship ring with Syracuse in 1955.
The native Hawaiian was inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1980. He was inducted into the Pac-12 Hall of Honor in 2008 and is a member of the Hawai'i Sports Hall of Fame.
Following his playing career, he was the head coach of the Detroit Pistons for three seasons and was named The Sporting News' Coach of the Year twice. He also served as the director of the Aloha/Japan Classic for more than two decades.
