CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Junior transfer Nick DeWitz had 16 points and six rebounds to lead Oregon State to a 69-56 victory over Bethune-Cookman Monday night.
The Beavers (5-3) used an 18-3 run to pull away from the Wildcats at Gill Coliseum. Just two days earlier, Oregon State blew a 13 point lead in a 76-74 overtime loss to Georgia in Atlanta.
Against Bethune-Cookman, the Beavers led 40-20 early in the second half before the Wildcats (3-3) made a move. Diondre Larmond had 10 points in a 22-8 run to get within 45-40.
Oregon State responded with its own run, which put the Beavers up by 20 with roughly six minutes left.
"It's a group right now that is on and off, hot and cold," said Oregon State Coach Jay John.
Larmond had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds for Bethune-Cookman, which plays Oregon in Eugene Tuesday night.
J.S. Nash added 13 points and four assists for the Beavers.
