SEATTLE, Wash. - The Oregon State men's soccer team lost to the Washington Huskies, 4-0, in a Pacific-10 Conference match Friday night at Husky Soccer Stadium.
"The bottom line is that we've gotten hit hard by the injury bug pretty bad and had to shuffle some guys around," Oregon State head coach Steve Simmons said. "The score isn't reflective of the way we played at all. We won't complain too much, but this has given us an opportunity for other guys to play. We have a break now and will regroup and have a chance to get some guys back."
The Beavers (6--6-0, 1-4-0 Pac-10) gave up a goal to Daniel Gray at 7:06 on a shot from midfield but were able to contain the Huskies the rest of the half.
Washington (8-4-1, 2-3-0 Pac-10) scored early in the second half on two goals by Brent Richards. He had the first at 47:45 on a shot in the box on an assist from Michael Harris and added his second at 50:29 on a bicycle kick from the left side. The Huskies added another goal at 87:32 by Quinton Beasley on a rebound. Matt Van Houten had two assists and Alex Klein had the assist on the final goal.
The Beavers have two weeks off before they travel to the Bay Area to play California on Oct. 29 and Stanford on Oct. 31.
