After joining the Oregon State coaching staff in June of 2003, Anthony Latronica helped the Beaver goalkeeping unit - primarily OSU record-holder Peter Billmeyer - reach a new level of play. Under Latronica's tutelage, Billmeyer posted a career-low goals-against average (1.38) while setting the school record for career shutouts (15). The Beaver defense allowed the fewest goals (29) since 1998.
In his final year on the Harvard staff - 2002 - Latronica helped the Crimson to a 9-6-1 record.
A native of Littleton, Colo., Latronica carries a long list of competitive experience.
Latronica spent four years on the United States Full National Team, playing on the U-20, U-21, and U-23 squads from 1993-95 and 1997. During that time, he played for renowned coaches John Kowalski, Jay Hoffman, Steve Sampson, Bruce Arena and John Ellinger.
Latronica brings a background in international competition to the Beavers, having played for the English First Division Millwall FC in 1998 and 2000, in addition to starting for Monselice Calcio of the Italian Fifth Division in 2001.
Latronica had stints with five Major League Soccer teams from 1998-2000, including Kansas City, New York/New Jersey, San Jose, New England and Colorado. He also saw extensive action with the "A" League's Boston Bulldogs, where he was voted the team's Most Valuable Player as a rookie in 1998.
Latronica and head coach Dana Taylor have ties dating back several years to when Taylor coached Latronica as a teenager for six years at the Columbine Soccer Club, which is now known as the Nike Rush Club.
As a four-year team captain at the University of Rhode Island, Latronica was a two-time All-American in 1995-96, leading the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and a school-record 19 wins in 1995. He also played alongside current OSU assistant Mick McDermott.
In 1998, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from URI.
Latronica has a USSF "A" License, and is a dual citezen of the U.S. and Italy.
Latronica was a 1992 Parade All-American at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.
