OREGON STATE: (2004) Lauren is one of 16 returning letterwinners and 12 returning starters... coach Fennah's comments: "What a success story. She came in basically as a walk-on, got her starting debut in her hometown of Portland and hasn't given up her spot since then. She's another kid who works very hard to be successful." (2003) Made great strides throughout the year and earned a starting spot over the final 10 games - including all nine Pac-10 contests - when Alison Vislay was lost for the year... played steady defense... took one shot, no points in 14 games... named team's Most Improved Player.
LAKE OSWEGO STORM (CLUB): Played six years... U-15 squad won a state title... voted MVP of the Celtic Cup semifinal game in 2000.
WILSONVILLE: Earned four letters in soccer and basketball, and two in track... in soccer: earned first-team all-state and all-league as a senior... also earned league Player of the Year... team captain... second-team all-state as a junior... first team all-league... second-team all-league as a sophomore... team went to the state quarterfinals two years and semifinals two years... in basketball: team won back-to-back state championships... in track: team was eighth in the state in the 4x100 relay and she was fourth in the long jump at the district meet... member of the National Honor Society... participated in the Model United Nations... staff writer for the school newspaper.
PERSONAL: Born in Kirkland, Wash... daughter of Terri and Scott Wippel... family includes sister, Brittany (16) and brother, Cody (14)... majoring in business... her aunt, Kathy McConnell, played basketball at Eastern Oregon University... three former prep teammates have played collegiate soccer... something she's yet to accomplish but would like to is, "Travel the world"... chose OSU because of its, "Location, athletics, facilities and coaching staff."
