Head Coach Craig Robinson
On the importance of winning the Civil War..
"We haven't won here very often. It's hard to win here. I thought we were being too conservative in the first half. For most of these guys this was only their second Civil War game. I'm still nervous coming down here. This was a big game for our team and our fans. I told these guys, `when you get halfway through your conference schedule you're not your year anymore. So let's stop leaning on how young we are'. That's what I told them, I didn't know if it was going to work."
On halftime adjustments...
"In the first half they had 15 second chance points. We said, `we're the team who's tall and athletic'. That was our thing at the half."
On Jared Cunningham being the guy...
"I told Jared that our best player will help us win games on the road. So not only did he have the pressure he was putting on himself, but I put that added pressure on him."
Junior guard Jared Cunningham
On the changes made at halftime...
"We came out slow, but we were only down by five at halftime, so we picked up our intensity in the second half. I know I needed to attack and be more vocal in the second half. We were more aggressive after the half. We played hard to the end. It was good that we were knocking down our free throws at the end."
On the Civil War rivalry...
"It's our rival school and it was a big game and a great crowd. We had a lot of Beaver fans out there. I think we turned the corner with this win, winning our first road game, especially with it being the Civil War game. It means a lot to Beaver Nation."
On being more vocal during the game...
"I felt more vocal. I was trying to get Ahmad going. I talked to him at halftime and just told him to play hard and get his shot going."
Sophomore forward Devon Collier
On getting the first conference road win...
"We just needed to come out with intensity on the road tonight. It was big to win an away game, especially in the Civil War."
On changes at halftime...
"Changing to a 1-3-1 defense at halftime really helped us in the second half. At halftime Coach (Robinson) just told us to match their intensity and come out aggressive."
On support from the bench...
"They [the bench] were very passionate tonight and gave us a lot of energy to keep going."
Sophomore guard Ahmad Starks
On winning down the stretch...
"It feels good to make our free throws and win down the stretch."
On changing to a 1-3-1 defense...
"Our defense helped get us the ball to score. Coach (Robinson) said changing to a 1-3-1 was the turning point in the game for us."
