Boats in the Collegiate Varsity 8+, JV 8+ and Varsity 4+ all finish second in their respective races
PORTLAND, Ore. – Two was the magic number for the Oregon State women's rowing team Sunday as all three of their boats that entered the Portland Fall Classic finished in second place.
The Beavers' first event of the day was the collegiate Varsity 8+, which was coxed by Lin Hill. The junior coxswain led her boat to a 17:30.98 finish, just seven seconds off of Washington State's first place pace.
Next up for the OSU women was the JV 8+, which was the second boat to finish second as they crossed the finish line with a 17:51.07 time. The JV 8+ was led by freshman coxswain Simone Oberholzer.
The final Orange and Black boat to hit the Willamette on Sunday was the Varsity 4+ led by junior coxswain Rita Helper, who 'helped' her team come in second with a 20:06.04 time.
The OSU women's strong performance Sunday in the Rose City put a cap on their fall slate. They next will take to the waters competitively in the Spring, when they travel to compete against the University of Victoria, March 9, 2013.

OSU Head Coach Emily Ford
On her team's performance…
"I thought we did a good job executing some of the technical things we've been working on in practice, but we have a long way to go in our preparations for spring. We are a month behind most schools at this time of year (since we start school so late), so it is important that we continue to hit the water this week with a sense of urgency and purpose. This team has what it takes, but we have a lot of work to do."
