CORVALLIS, Ore. – Michael Medaugh has joined the Oregon State Women's Rowing coaching staff, Director of Rowing Michael Eichler announced Wednesday.
"Michael brings a data-driven approach to coaching, passion for building a winning team culture and a commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, which makes him a great addition to this coaching staff," Eichler said. "I am excited to welcome him to Corvallis."
Medaugh joins the Beavers from Chattanooga, Tenn., where he served as the Head Masters Rowing Coach for Lookout Rowing Club and as an assistant for Chattanooga Junior Rowing.
"I am excited to join Oregon State and be part of the Beavers' rowing program. I believe that the academic opportunities, athletic facilities, rowing tradition and overall culture of Corvallis provide a unique experience for coaches and athletes alike," Medaugh said. "It's clear to me that the women's rowing team has built an incredibly strong culture of excellence, and I look forward to contributing to that momentum and helping the program continue to reach new heights."
Under his leadership, Lookout Rowing Club won seven medals at the 2026 US Rowing Indoor National Championships, achieved seven victories or podium finishes at the 2026 Masters Southeastern Regionals, placed ninth out of 135 teams at Head of the Hooch Regatta in 2025 and claimed a team victory at the 2025 Music City Head Race.
Prior to his time in Tennessee, Medaugh was an Assistant Juniors Rowing Coach at Duxbury Maritime School in Duxbury, Mass., which came on the heels of a five-year collegiate rowing career at Harvard, where he worked his way into a varsity seat after walking on in 2017.
A coxswain, he finished second at Head of the Charles Regatta in 2019 with the Crimson varsity four, adding an eighth-place finish with the varsity eight in 2021.
Graduating from Harvard with a degree in Neuroscience, he worked for Moderna during the scale up of a cancer vaccine and has both traveled and volunteered across South America, Africa and Eastern Europe.
Oregon State women's rowing is coming off a successful 2026 season that culminated in the team's second-consecutive Conference Championship and a 17th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
