Trio of OSU Wrestlers Advance to Semis, Beavers in Third Place at Cliff Keen

Mangrum, Pena and Hanke will compete in semifinals on Saturday as Hanke remains OSU's lone undefeated wrestler
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Oregon State wrestling team is tied for third place following the first day of competition at the Cliff Keen Invite with three wrestlers advancing to semifinal matches on Saturday in Las Vegas. The Beavers, who along with Cornell have a total of 53.5 points after day one will see wrestlers Mike Mangrum (141 lbs.), RJ Pena (157 lbs.) and Chad Hanke (HWT) compete in matches on Saturday for a chance to make it into the final rounds.
OSU ranked No. 12/14/15 in the nation has finished in the top 10 during Cliff Keen for the past three years and will look to extend that streak, Saturday inside the Las Vegas Convention Center. In the 141 lb. weight class, No. 4/5/6 Mike Mangrum will take on Tyler Graff of Wisconsin in the semifinals, as will No. 8/11/18 RJ Pena (157 lbs.) vs. Andy McCulley from Wyoming. No. 6 heavyweight Chad Hanke rounds out the trio of Beaver semifinalists as he gets on the mat with Ohio State's Peter Capone. With losses on the day by Scott Sakaguchi (149 lbs.), and Taylor Meeks (197 lbs.), Hanke remains OSU's lone undefeated wrestler as he brings a 10-0 overall record into semifinals competition.
Also wrestling in non-semifinal matches on Day No. 2 will be No. 3/4/6 Scott Sakaguchi vs. Josh Wilson (Utah Valley University) in the 149 lb. weight class as well as 174 pounder Austin Morehead, who is ranked No. 18 in the nation. Morehead will be taking on Scott Liegel of Wisconsin and Ty Vinson who is ranked No. 17/18 among 184 pounders squares off against West Virginia's Lance Bryson. 197 lb. sophomore Taylor Meeks (No. 10/11), rounds out the non-semi wrestlers for OSU on Saturday as he will be battling Peter Huntley of Navy.
