Beavers To Head South For Duck Invitational

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team will compete at the 28th Annual Duck Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Eugene.

The Beavers won the Duck Invitational in 2014 with a 9-over 873, which was nine strokes better than second-place Minnesota and 11 better than host and third-place Oregon.
Â
Anthony Arvidson of Oregon State claimed medalist honors at this event in 1998 and 2000, while Beavers' head coach Jon Reehoorn won the individual title in 2002 while competing for Washington State.

FIELD (15): Oregon State, Arizona, Boise State, Denver, Gonzaga, Oregon, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, Seattle, UC Davis, UMKC, Utah, Washington State and Wyoming.

COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-71, 7,020-yard Eugene Country Club.

Oregon State's Alex Moore holds the course record when he fired a school-record 9-under 63 at the Duck Invitational in the spring of 2011.

BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of seniors Calum Hill and Kevin Murphy, junior Jonas Liebich, sophomore Trevor Yu and freshman Shawn Lu. Sophomore Tom Kerkvliet and freshman Kyosuke Hara will compete as individuals.

FORMAT: Two-day, 54-hole tournament with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.

TEE TIMES: The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday with 36 holes of continuous play. The final round begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

LAST TIME OUT: Oregon State finished in third place at the Bandon Dunes Championship last week for its fourth top-5 placing of the season.

The Beavers concluded the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a 6-under 286-288-284--858 at the par-72, 6,893-yard Old MacDonald Course to finish third in the 16-team field.

Oregon State finished ahead of three teams ranked among the top 25 in the nation -- No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 21 Colorado and No. 23 Auburn -- and only a stroke back of No. 11 Texas Tech, which posted a 7-under 857.

The Beavers have now recorded top-5 finishes in four of their seven tournaments this season -- second at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, third at the Bandon Dunes Championship, and fifth at The Jackrabbit and Duck Commander Intercollegiate.

Trevor Yu led the Beavers with a career-best tie for ninth place finish after posting a 4-under 70-72-70--212. His previous best finish was a tie for 13th place at last year's Bandon Dunes Championship. The 2-under 70 in the first and third rounds were his lowest as a collegian.

Calum Hill had a solid and consistent tournament, finishing in 16th place with an even-par 72-71-73--216. He had 10 birdies over the three rounds and a scoring average of 3.08 on the tough par-3's, tied for the ninth best in the field.

Jonas Liebich and Shawn Lu each finished in a tie for 20th place with a 2-over 218, as Liebich posted scores of 70-74-74 and Lu went low in the final two rounds to finish at 76-71-71.

Kevin Murphy had his best round of the tournament on the final day to move into a tie for 30th place with a 4-over 74-76-70--220.
