April 22, 2017 | Men's Rowing
Tacoma, Wash. – The No. 19 Oregon State men's rowing team put forth a great effort, Saturday afternoon in a tough dual with No. 1 California.
"The Varsity 8 raced hard," head coach Gabe Winkler said. "It was a fantastic piece and the guys rose to the challenge of racing the top crew in the country."
The Beavers' Varsity 8 highlighted the afternoon fighting the Golden Bears throughout the 2,000-meter course on American Lake to the finish second by just five seconds, recording a time of 5-minutes, 45.91-seconds to the Golden Bears 5:40.82.
"The Second Varsity clipped a few buoys but still had a solid run. It was some solid work by these guys. This will make Pac-12's interesting in three weeks."
