Beavers Rowing Set to Host Orange & Black Regatta
November 14, 2018 | Men's Rowing, Women's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's and women's rowing programs will hold its annual Orange & Black Regatta on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Oregon State Rowing Center.
The first Orange & Black Regatta was hosted 11 years ago and has grown since its beginnings as a women's team workout. There will be men's and women's races, as well as alumni boats.
Registration is open to anyone interested in attending, and is required for entrants into the alumni race and participation in the BBQ. You can find registration for the Orange & Black Regatta here.
The crews will compete in a series of three races, starting with a 3,500-meter head race and followed by two side by side races that will be shorter in distance. All races will begin at an assigned location downstream from the boathouse and the finish line will be the docks. All boats will be competing to win against their counterpart of the opposing colors team. Points will be assigned to the winners of each event and the cumulative total will determine a winner between the orange and black teams.
The regatta is a free event with free parking at the OSU Boathouse. The Boathouse is also within walking distance of downtown Corvallis and the Farmer's Market.
The best areas for fans to view the regatta are from the shore at the OSU Boathouse, the landing at North Riverfront Park on the west side of the Willamette River below The Spaghetti Factory, and from the Harrison Street Bridge.
