Beavers on top in Federal Way and earn another Summer National qualification standard in Greensboro
FEDERAL WAY, Wash / GREENSBORO, NC FEDERAL WAY, Wash / GREENSBORO, NC - The Beavers on both coasts had another good day of swimming with Felicia Anderson setting a career best time at Winter Nationals, and the team holding on to their first-place spot at the Husky Invite.
Winter Nationals:
Felicia Anderson set her new career best in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.25 beating her former best by over a second. The finish was good for tenth place at Winter Nationals, and qualified Anderson for 2019 Summer Nationals, her second qualification standard for this summer.
Arianna Letrari and Cali Rowland both competed in the 200 of their stroke, butterfly and breaststroke respectively.
"It was a great national meet for all three swimmers," said Beaver head coach Jennifer Buffin. "We're excited with the results and are ready to back to training to prepare for Pac-12's in February."
Sunday's Events:
All three Beavers will finish Winter Nationals today with a short course time trial.
Husky Invite:
The Beavers maintained their team lead at the Husky Invite sitting at 738 points through 23 events.
Lauren Yon and Jacquie Price both had top 10 finishes in the 400 IM Finals, taking 4th and 6th respectively. Jacquie Price also took second in the 100 fly two events later with a time of 54.85.
Lindsay Swail finished top 10 in two events: first coming in with a time of 56.41 in the 100 fly which was good for sixth place, then finishing second in the 100 back with a time of 55.14, a new personal best.
Oregon State also took second place in both relays on the day.
"The Husky Invite is a great time for the girls to learn how to move through a day with back-to-back sessions. One of the big things they are learning is how to build on their performance from prelims in the morning to finals in the evening," said Beaver Assistant Coach Michael Wong. "There aren't a lot of meets that we have two-day sessions like this, so to learn how to move through the meet will be very valuable come the Pac-12 meet later this season where two sessions a day will be the norm."
Sunday's Events (Prelims):
200 Back – Lindsay Swail, Izzy Bishop, Maddie Rainey, and Brooke Hofmann.
100 Free – Callan Jackman, Lindsay Swail, Erin Harvey, Riley Neal, Amanda Hoejberg, Izzy Bishop, and Connor Doran.
200 Breast – Lauren Yon, Brooke Hofmann, Rachel Pride, Fernanda Rodriguez, and Katie Manzione.
200 Fly – Jacquie Price, and Paige Maynard
1650 Free – Chloe Bowman, Amina Bachir, and Katie Manzione.
