Slama Leads Beavers On Day One At Pac-12’s

SEATTLE, Wash. – Ellie Slama fired a 1-over 73 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the opening round of the Pac-12 Championship on Sunday.
The Beavers are in 10th place, and ahead of rival Oregon, after opening with a 14-over 302 at the par-72, 5,981-yard Broadmoor Golf Club.
The second round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
"A good or bad round on this golf course is a matter of one yard," Oregon State head coach Dawn Shockley said. "Unfortunately today we were in a few tough places that penalized us. It's a new day tomorrow with new opportunities."
Slama, a freshman from Salem, Ore., had two birdies and three bogeys to shoot a 73 that has her in a tie for 14th place in the 55-player field.
Sophomore Nicole Schroeder is a stroke back and tied for 20th place with a 2-over 74 that also included two birdies.
Senior Susie Cavanagh is tied for 37th place with a 5-over 77, junior Olivia Benzin is tied for 43rd with a 6-over 78 and freshman Amanda Minni is in 50th place after posting a 7-over 79.
UCLA holds the team lead with a 1-under 287, while Stanford is second with a 2-over 290 and USC and Arizona State are tied for third with a 3-over 291.
Lilia Vu of UCLA, Sarah Rhee of Washington and Ziyi Wang of Stanford all share the individual lead after carding a 4-under 68.
Television coverage of the Pac-12 Championship will air in a tape-delayed, 30-minute special debuting on Saturday, May 5 at 10 a.m. on Pac-12 Network, Arizona, Los Angeles, Oregon and Washington.
