Beavers pick up third place finish at Head of the American

GOLD RIVER, Calif. --- Highlighted by the Beavers' collegiate four placing third and fifth in its event, the Oregon State women's rowing squad opened its fall season of racing on Saturday at the Head of the American on the waters of Lake Natoma.

Saturday's racing took place on a three-mile course with a time trial start format. Oregon State competed four entries into the collegiate 2- division, two in the collegiate eight (21-boat field), and two in the collegiate 4+ to round out the day.

The Beavers' began the day with the women's collegiate 2- race with sophomore Sierra Bishop and freshman Georgia Foster taking 12th place and navigating the waters with a time of 20:45.6.

Maria-Christina Amundson and Abigail Watts placed 17th, respectively, with a 21:15.8 finish. Two OSU boats followed shortly after with Tessa White-Parsons and Shelby Larkin finishing in 18th (21:21.0) while Scout Sutton and Jane Smeins finished in 19th (21:22.6)

Oregon State's two entries into the collegiate 8+ finished the day with sixth and seventh place finishes. The Beavers A boat finished in 17:35.5 for sixth place with the B boat clocking in at 17:41.4. The A boat was manned by Scout Sutton and featured Hannah Robinson, Shelby Larkin, Abigail Watts, Amelia Sabin, Sierra Bishop, Georgia Foster, Jane Smeins and coxed by Bailey Daniels.

In the Collegiate 4+ race, the Beavers finished off the day with third and fifth place finishes. The Varsity 4+ "B" boat finished with a time of 20:00.4 to take third while the second varsity 4+ finished in fifth place with a time of 20:31.7. Washington State won the V4 by clocking in at 19:42.3.
