MEET THE VISITORS
NC Central enters Tuesday's game with a 5-8 record and wins over Appalachian State and Western Carolina. The Eagles are led by former MEAC Player of the Week Kimeira Burks (11.1 ppg) and Jerni Kiaku (11.5 ppg). NCCU has seven players averaging at least one steal per game and averages 10.9 takeaways per game as a team.
THE TALIA VON OELHOFFEN GAME®
Talia von Oelhoffen dominated Oregon State's Maui Jim Maui Classic opener against Nevada with a career-high 41 points on 17-of-20 shooting. She made every shot she took inside the arc en route to leading OSU to a 96-84 win, including a personal 16-5 run to open the second half.
Keeping opponents off the scoreboard starts with keeping them off the free throw line. The Beavs have been one of the best teams in the country at that in the Rueck era. Over the last 12 seasons, only 13 power conference teams have averaged under 13 fouls per game over the course of a single season. Oregon State is the only team to do it four times (2016-17, 17-18, 19-20, 21-22). So far in 2022, the Beavs are third in the nation with just 12.2 fouls per game.
FEELING JUST PIETSCH-Y
After early struggles in her transition to the American college game, freshman Martha Pietsch (pronounced Marta Peach) has come into her own over the last five contests. Thru her first five college games, the German averaged 2.4 points and 1 assist per game while over the last five she is averaging 7.4 points with 3.0 assists with a sparkling 2.14 assist-to-turnover ratio and shooting 46.7% from three as a key reserve for the Beavs.
