MEET THE VISITORS
UCLA enters the new year with a 13-1 record and a 2-0 mark in conference play after beating USC and No. 17 Oregon. The Bruins are paced by the Charisma Osborne, who ranks fourth in the league with 18 points per game. Like the Beavs, UCLA also boasts a star freshman in Kiki Rice (12.9 ppg).
CONFERENCE OF CHAMPIONS
The Pac-12 has long been one of the top women's basketball leagues in the country. Since 2015-16, it leads all conferences in Final Four appearances (7), non-conference winning percentage (.799), NCAA Tournament wins (76), NCAA Tournament winning percentage (.685) and WBCA All-Americans (15).
This season, Pac-12 teams finished with a national-best .852 (115-20) non-conference winning percentage this season, ahead of the ACC (.818, 139-31), Big 12 (.802, 93-23), SEC (.794, 143-37), Big East (.760, 79-25) and Big Ten (.757, 115-37). The league's .852 clip is a new Pac-12 record, bettering the .848 mark (117-21) from 2016-17 when a Conference-record seven teams earned NCAA Tournament berths.
DEFENSIVE GAMECHANGER
Bendu Yeaney's arrival in Corvallis gives the Beavers a powerful on-ball defender they haven't had since the days of Gabby Hansen. Yeaney, a transfer from Arizona, has racked up 20 three-steal games over the last three seasons with her team going 14-6 in those contests. The senior has also had at least one steal and one block in 39 games in her career. Her team is 31-8 in those games.
SOMETHING'S BREWING
Raegan Beers wasted little time making her mark on the floor, racking up double-doubles in her second, third and fourth college games. Beers is the only freshman in the nation with seven double-doubles this season. She is also the only true freshman in the country to score 20 points in a double-double three times this season. Her two double-doubles the week of 11/14 earned Beers Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors.
