
No. 13 Oregon State Places Fourth at Pac-12 Championships

DEXTER LAKE, Ore. - The No. 13-ranked Oregon State women's rowing team earned its second consecutive fourth place finish at the Pac-12 Championship Sunday on Dexter Lake at Lowell State Park.
The Beavers totaled 23.5 points that was highlighted by fourth place finishes in the first and second varsity eights while the varsity four crossed in fifth and the third varsity eight finished 7th. No. 2 Stanford took home the title for the first time since 2014 with a total of 43.5 points while No. 7 Washington (41) and No. 10 California (31.5) rounded out the top-thee.
Behind Oregon State was No. 15 USC with 22 points, No. 19 Washington State with 10.5 and UCLA with 10 on the day.
The Beavers began the morning with a seventh-place performance in the third varsity eight where Oregon State picked up a time of 7:02.30 in a boat that had five novice athletes. The varsity four race followed where the Beavers finished in a time of 7:21.38, defeating Washington State and UCLA to come in fifth place.
Just four seconds separated the field of 4th place (Oregon State) to 7th place (UCLA) during the third race of the day which was the second varsity eights. The Beavs battled to the line and crossed in a time of 6:38.45 behind Washington, Stanford and Cal.
Oregon State's final race of the day came with a fourth-place finish for the varsity eight boat. The Beavers held a margin of just .77 of a second over USC with a time of 6:25.38. Cal's boat crossed at 6:20.54, which was good for third, while Washington took second (6:19.06) and Stanford won the race with a final time of 6:13.41.
Oregon State now awaits to find out if it qualifies for an at-large bid into the 2022 NCAA Rowing Championships which will take place May 27-29 in Sarasota, Fla. The field will consist of eleven conference champions with another eleven at-large teams selected based on regular season results and conference results. The selection show will take place Tuesday May 17.
