
Beavers Fall to Trojans

Los Angeles, Calif. – The Oregon State women's soccer team fell to No. 15 USC 4-0 Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Calif.
The Beavers were able to create a number of scoring chances in the contest, taking seven shots including four on goal.
Katie Godden had an early chance for the Beavers, as she headed the ball on frame to force a save. The Trojans struck first in the 11th minute to take the lead, and added another in the 23rd to double their advantage.
McKenna Martinez nearly pulled one back with 15 minutes to go before the break, as she forced a diving save from the USC net-minder. The Trojans carried a two-goal advantage into the intermission.
Oregon State pressed forward in the early parts of the second half, and was able to create a handful of scoring chances – including a shot from Martinez in the 60th that sailed over the crossbar.
The Trojans tacked on a third in the 69th minute on a curling shot that found the bottom corner from 24 yards out. USC added a fourth in the 73rd.
Godden took aim in the 75th, but the shot was off target. Oregon State threw bodies forward in the closing minutes, but were unable to break through the USC defense.
The Beavers will return home on Friday to take on Arizona.
