Carey and Beam Squad Sets Program Record as Beavs Defeat Arizona
February 18, 2023 | Women's Gymnastics
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jade Carey and the OSU beam team were the stars of the show, as the No. 12 Oregon State gymnastics team picked up a 197.025-196.375 over Arizona on Saturday afternoon in Legendary Gill Coliseum.
"I thought our team did a great job staying locked in," head coach Tanya Chaplin said. "To set a program record on beam, after counting a fall on bars shows how mentally tough our team is. We stayed together for four rotations and I thought that showed tonight. Jade continues to get stronger each week and it's really fun to watch. I know our team is hungry to get on the road and look to improve our NQS over the next two weeks."
Already having one meet with two 10's this season, Carey once again knotted perfect scores on vault and floor for her third and fourth flawless routines of the season. Her all-around score of 39.875 is the highest in the country this season, breaks her own program record and is tied for the 13th highest score in NCAA history.
