Seven Set for NCAA Wrestling Championships

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Following the 24th team title and seeing five take individual championships, the Oregon State wrestling team will compete in the 2023 NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, this week.

• Oregon State will compete in the 2023 NCAA Championships Thursday through Saturday at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
• Seven Beavers will compete in the championships, just one fewer than last season's eight in Detroit.
First Rounds
• 125: Brandon Kaylor, seeded seventh and will meet No. 26 Jack Wagner (North Carolina)
• 133: Jason Shaner, seeded 19th and will meet No. 14 Jesse Mendez (Ohio State)
• 141: Cleveland Belton, seeded 21st and will meet Parker Filius - seeded 12th - of Purdue
• 165: Matthew Olguin, seeded 8th and will meet Nebraska's Bubba Wilson, who is ranked 25th
• 174: Mateo Olmos, seeded 12th and will face 21st-ranked Lennox Wolak of Columbia
• 184: Fourth ranked Trey Munoz will face the 29-seed Deanthony Parker
• 197: Tanner Harvey, seeded 18th and will face 15th-ranked Luke Surber of Oklahoma State
• Harvey is the lone Beaver who already faced his opponent this season. He won by decision at 14-9 when OSU hosted the Cowboys in January.
Seventh Heaven
• For the 10th time in program history, seven Beavers will make an appearance at the NCAA Championships.
• OSU is sending seven for the first time since the 2015 edition, hosted in St. Louis, Mo.
Third Time's the Charm
• Brandon Kaylor and Trey Munoz will each be making their third consecutive trip to the NCAAs.
• Kaylor finished eighth in last year's competition held in Detroit and clinched All-American.
NCAA History
• Oregon State has 19 top-10 finishes all-time, including a pair of top-two performances in 1973 and 1995.
• When in the Sooner State for the competition, OSU has placed 28th (2014) and 41st (2006) since the turn of the century.
Pac-12 Champions
• The Beavers took not only the team title in Stanford nearly two weeks ago, but five of the ten individual crowns.
• It marked the 24th team title in history for OSU.
